Mannheim Steamroller - A Fresh Aire Christmas
Mannheim Steamroller—the multi-Platinum-selling neo-classical group founded by Chip Davis—is best known for popular reworkings of classic Christmas songs.
∙ Born into a musical Ohio family, Davis composed his first piece at age six, played in the University of Michigan’s concert band, and became a junior high music teacher.
∙ He cocreated the character of C.W. McCall, whose 1975 trucker-rebellion single “Convoy” topped Billboard’s Country and Pop charts and inspired Sam Peckinpah’s like-named 1978 film.
∙ Mannheim Steamroller’s debut album, 1975’s Fresh Aire—featuring classical music played on electric bass and synthesizers—was a hit with audiophiles due to its high-tech sound.
∙ The band’s first collection of holiday classics, 1984’s Mannheim Steamroller Christmas, rose into the Billboard 200—and by 2004 the album had sold more than six million copies.
∙ The Mannheim Steamroller LP Fresh Aire 7 won a Grammy Award for Best New Age Album in 1991.
∙ In 2019, the Mannheim Steamroller Christmas Tour celebrated 35 straight years, with two different touring troupes, plus a third group that performed at a popular Florida theme park.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Christmas Eve and Other Stories
Symphonic rock group Trans-Siberian Orchestra has blended heavy metal bombast, classical music composition, and pyro-and-lasers theatrics into their Platinum-selling LPs and explosive live shows.
∙ Thanks to the radio success of seasonal smash “Christmas Eve / Sarajevo 12/24,” the band’s debut LP, 1996’s Christmas Eve and Other Stories, has been certified triple-Platinum.
∙ Their double-Platinum sophomore album, 1998’s The Christmas Attic, hit the Top 10 on Billboard’s Top Holiday and Top Pop Catalog Albums charts.
∙ Throughout the 2000s, the band performed for over 5 million fans at more than 700 concerts, landing them within the Top 25 on Billboard’s Top Touring Artists of the Decade list in 2009.
∙ With 2009’s Night Castle and 2015’s Letters from the Labyrinth, they scored back-to-back No. 1 hits on Billboard’s Top Hard Rock Albums chart.
∙ “Forget About the Blame (Moon Version)”—featuring guest lead vocals from Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale—became a Top 40 rock radio hit in 2015.

- Midnight Syndicate - Christmas: A Ghostly Gathering
Inspired by gothic rock and other obscure sounds, Midnight Syndicate creates darkly blended compositions that also display their pop/rock style influences. The band sustains its dramatic musical scenarios not only by way of their common musical inspirations, ranging from Black Sabbath to King Diamond, but also by a shared wish of portraying the darkest edges of existence. It was in 1991, in Cleveland, OH, that Edward Douglas decided to form Syndicate. However, it was only six years later that Syndicate's first disc, the self-titled Midnight Syndicate, hit the record stores, in 1997. In 1998 and following the later addition of Gavin Goszka, the Cleveland duo released its second full-length, Born of the Night. Following two years of production and rehearsing, the two-team delivered it's third album, Realm of Shadows, in 2000. In 2001, the group emerged with its fourth album, Gates of Delirium. This particular album was a huge success on MP3.com, where it held six spots in their Top 20 positions during Halloween. The next year, Symphonies From the Crypt was released towards the end of the summer. ~ Mario Mesquita Borges
